Prints

I met the lady at a craft show where she became very interested in tray frames. We subsequently had an appointment where she had her wonderful oil paintings and I had samples of tray frames. It didn’t take long for her to like the beach-coloured tray mount. Two of her paintings were placed on stretcher bars and had a depth of 20mm. The others, of which this is one, were on canvas boards where the depth was roughly 6mm. It was decided to float them, which in turn creates a shadow within the tray. The canvas board was secured to a 10mm wooden batten, which in turn was to the tray frame. By looking at the picture you can see the shadow. It was great framing these four and I hope the artist does sell them.

I thing many of us know of David Hockney's work and how pleased I was to receive this print to frame for the lady who bought it.

The moulding was easy for her to decide as she already had a frame which used the same one. The window mountboard was a good method as it does coincide with part of the stems.

  • Moulding: Smooth White Bullnose

  • Glass: Anti-Refective 70 - approx 70% UV filter - <1.5% light reflection value

  • Window Mountboard: Damascus Green (L3)

Jigsaws

As a present, a wee group of friends worked together to complete this enjoyable jigsaw. It didn’t come as a surprise to hear them say they enjoyed spending time together, chatting about ‘x, y & z’, which also working on the jigsaw. When they completed the work, they phoned me and when I was with them, they selected the moulding that does draw out the jigsaw.  The glass, as you’ll see below, was equally appropriate:

  • Moulding: 20x34mm Antique Gold Leaf

  • Glass: Anti-Reflective 70 - approx 70% UV filter - <1.5% light reflection value

  • Double Window Mountboard: Base: Terracotta (L3) - Top: Clay (L3)

  • Drymounted: To stop the jigsaw pieces coming apart, it was Hotpressed to a board

Any jigsaw you want to frame, please contact me.

Jigsaws

A year ago, my wife and I had a long holiday in the States, which was followed by a cruise. In the US, for a few days we stayed in the city, known as, the 'Big Easy'. One of our friends used to have dachshunds. We saw this funny photograph where you can see the dog's AKA, sausage dog, plus the New Orleans Saints' helmet. As you can tell, we bought the signed phtograph and when we got back, I framed it and we gave it to the lady. She loved it and so too her other friends.

The moulding is a 25mm Gold Scoop, glass is Conservation Clear and the window mountboard is grey.

I can't frame this photograph, seeing where we bought it, though I can frame for you, hence please contact me.

The Cure’s double album, Mixed Up, came out as a vinyl in 1990 though this remastered CD was in 2018.

If your question is, ‘whether the CD can still be played?’ Yes, I have the specific double-sided tabs, which can be removed without causing a damage.

  • Moulding: matching some colours, I used the green that is scratched onto silver

  • Window Mountboard: making sure the CD doesn't touch the glass, it's raised from the grey undermount

  • Glass: where this is going, together with cost implications, float glass was used.

Unexpected present from his wife to him, which was much enjoyed. They served in the military services and followed by the police force. I very much framing this for not only that, yet he, like me, support Leeds Utd…

The frame was built by the following equipment:

  • Moulding: 32x54mm Matt Black Cushion, deep rebate plus Matt Black Spacers

  • Glass: Museum - approx 99% UV filter - <1.5% light reflection value

  • Double Window Mountboard: Base: Green Suede - Level 2 (L2) & Top: Black Suede - L2

  • Under Mountboard: Green Suede - L2

Medals

I met the lady, her partner and son at the Hadleigh Xmas Craft Show. At the appointment she showed me the limited addition picture, though sadly the frame it was in wasn't good, in short it didn't attract the eye to the picture. I suggested the picture would look amazing by it being floated, by foam core, from the undermount. She liked the idea and therefore selected the colour of the undermount and the moulding that I recommended. Thankfully the lady was aware of the different types of glass and selected Anti-Reflective. I did manage to deliver it on Christmas Eve and was so pleased that she then sent me a picture of it on the wall. â€‹â€‹â€‹

  • Moulding: 32x54mm Matt Black Cushion, deep rebate plus Matt Black Spacers

  • Glass: Anti-Reflective 70 - approx 70% UV filter - <1.5% light reflection value

  • Under Mountboard: Cloud White - L2

Watercolour paint onto size ACEO paper, the title of the artwork is 'Busy Day In The Countryside'. I used foam core to raise each picture from the undermount and this in turn creates shadows and a wonderful look. Spacers were used so there is a gap between the artwork and the glass. Without a spacers there could be humidity between the paintings and glass, leaving severe damage to the artwork.

  • Moulding: 25x30mm Washed Green, deep rebate plus White Spacers

  • Glass: Conservation - approx 99% UV filter - 8% light reflection value

  • Under Mountboard: Minuet - L2

The lady was in the Royal Horse Artillery and during discussions she asked me to frame the items as shown.

  • Moulding: 32x56mm Matt Black, deep rebate together with Matt Black Spacers (colour can be walnut)
